THE RACE

The first race of the NorgeCup Vintertriatlon 20254-25

We are starting with a 1.2km run inside the ski arena with 4x 300m hilly loops, then transitioning into the bike for a fast 4km leg looping a flat circuit right outside the facilities on gravel roads to then finish with 2.2km freestyle nordic skiing on a 1km loop. The transition area, the run and skiing will be visible from inside on stories 1 through 4 keeping the fan excitement high!

NORGES CUP

Finally you can do a cup in winter triathlon.

There are many who have wished for more competitions in winter triathlon. Both the summer triathletes who want to compete in three disciplines in the winter, and those from other sports who think winter triathlon is fun.

In the 2024 - 2025 season, you can take part in four competitions, the last of which is also the Norwegian Championship. Sports manager Frode Viberg Jermstad will use the competitions in the Norwegian Cup as a basis for selection to the elite classes in the WC.

COURSE

RUN LEG

Short but challenging 300m loop!

Leave Transition zone into the "beginners" slope where you will run up towards the ice wall where you will have a few flat turns for "resting" from the hills, then run back down and loop!

4 loops will make 1.2km and back into Transition.

What running shoes should you wear?

The snow arena inside SNØ has icy but packed snow, any trail running shoes with good anti sliding grip will be optimal.

Need new shoes? Swing by Sport1 at SNØ and show your registration confirmation and get 25% off any trail running shoe!

COURSE

BIKE LEG

Where you wil recover!

The bike leg will be outside following a gravel path into a large flat lot where we will loop 7 (seven) times before going back into the snow arena.

Each loop is roughly 550m with a few short climbs and 8 corners!

Time to push watts and make up time!

What should else should I know?

  • Bring a bike light either on your handle bars or your helmet, it will be a little dark.
  • NorgesCup participants have to use a traditional mountain bike, smallest wheel size allowed is 27 and tyre width no less than 35mm.
  • Non NorgesCup participants can use any bike that can handle gravel roads, i.e: a hybrid bike, gravel bike, fat bike with a minimum trye width of 28mm.

COURSE

SKI LEG

The real challenge!

Ski out from transition towards the run loop but stay on your left as you climb up 200m at 10+% towards the xc skiing circuit. This transfer will be tough and steep, there will be a "rest" flat area passed the ice wall where you can rest the legs before the final and steepest climb before reaching the ski cricuit, once in the ski leg you will 2 times on a fun and rolling route before exiting and joining the central "family slope" as you carefully descend into the finish lane.

What should else should I know?

  • Freestyle means any style, skate, classic, even a little wider mountain skis to climb up.
  • Rent a ski set for nok 200 at Snø, rental shop closes at 17 on 02.11  Order here
  • The temperature is between -2 to -4 degrees Celcius. An HS7 or PS7 violet glide works well. Feel free to ask for advice and/or purchase wax at Sport1

  • If you have base binder wax that is heated on the skis, we recommend VP50, VP55 and VP60 based on how much grip you wish to have. Our tip is to apply 2-3 layers to optimize your grip.

  • Alternatively, you can use VP65 which is a soft wax that normally provides good grip in these conditions. Klister is not allowed.
